Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Zvada: B.

Somebody in the 226th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Dominic Zvada, the No. 95 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The Fatheree II pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the defensive front at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick19 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a double-digit-sack hope, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. is a better player than No. 75 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick99 Rnd3 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at slot 99 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick111 Rnd4 Hayden Conner
A big swing on Hayden Conner at pick 111, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. in pick No. 137 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick161 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the 161st pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick185 Rnd6 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the 185th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick226 Rnd7 Dominic Zvada
A top-tier specialist at a bargain, Dominic Zvada in slot 226, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick230 Rnd7 Cam Skattebo
You do not let a running back like Cam Skattebo reach pick No. 230 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick249 Rnd7 Reuben Fatheree II
They talked themselves into Reuben Fatheree II at Round 7, Pick 33, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
