The Commanders kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Nobody else had Ethan Downs anywhere near Round 7, Pick 29. The Commanders did, by 39 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Omarion Hampton
In No. 29 they get a featured back. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A straight-up fair deal on Tre Harris at the 61st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick128 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. at pick No. 128 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205 Rnd6 Jordan Hancock
They liked Jordan Hancock enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 205. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick245 Rnd7 Ethan Downs
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ethan Downs this early at the Round 7 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
