More right than wrong for the Commanders, and a B- to prove it. There is reaching, and then there is Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins at the 133rd overall pick. The Commanders jumped the board by 59 and dared it to prove them wrong. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Alexander pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill hitter at safety, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick63
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 31. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick128
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at slot 128 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins in No. 133 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick205
Rnd6
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 205 with a little surplus value in KeAndre Lambert-Smith. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick245
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at the 245th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
