Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a B- for the Patriots.

Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The Jones pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Mustapha steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
A straight-up fair deal on Adonai Mitchell at pick 34, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
A tidy bit of business in slot 68, where Kingsley Suamataia graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick103 Rnd4 Bucky Irving
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 3: Bucky Irving for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick137 Rnd5 Josh Newton
Josh Newton is a better player than the 137th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick180 Rnd6 Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha at the 180th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick193 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick No. 193 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick231 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones at No. 231 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
