The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Dwight McGlothern, the No. 161 name on the board, sitting there at the 189th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep.

Every board in the league had Hall lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

It is not that Barton is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
