Jimmyneutron571 DRAFTING FOR THESaints
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Grand theft in the 130th pick: the Saints steal Sampson and grade out a B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Dylan Sampson tumbling to the Saints in Round 4, Pick 29 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
If Caldwell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Shemar Stewart
In pick No. 9 they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland is a better player than the 40th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick71
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
No edge and no loss on Zy Alexander in slot 71; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick93
Rnd3
Charles Grant
They paid sticker price for Charles Grant in Round 3, Pick 29, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jamaree Caldwell
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jamaree Caldwell. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick130
Rnd4
Dylan Sampson
Somehow Dylan Sampson was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at No. 186 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick254
Rnd7
Kobe Hudson
They robbed the room for Kobe Hudson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
