Jimmyneutron571 DRAFTING FOR THEBills

Draft Grade — Bills

FutureB-
The Bills did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The war room fell hard for Jeremy Crawshaw, and it showed at pick 171: 66 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The Martinez value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is not that Sauls is a bad player; it is that the Bills had louder needs to answer first.
Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Derrick Harmon
In pick No. 30 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts slid further than he should have, and the 56th overall pick is lovely value for the safety. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick62
Rnd2
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at slot 62 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick108
Rnd4
Ben Sauls
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 108 on Ben Sauls with wide receiver and edge rusher unsolved.
Pick131
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
They paid sticker price for Aeneas Peebles in Round 4, Pick 30, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jeremy Crawshaw
They talked themselves into Jeremy Crawshaw at the 171st pick, and the board did not agree. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick175
Rnd5
Dillon Gabriel
They will replay Dillon Gabriel at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick179
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
They paid up for Luke Lachey at Round 6, Pick 1 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in pick No. 206 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick208
Rnd6
Damien Martinez
Steal is underselling it; Damien Martinez at the 208th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
