The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Kilgore: A-. The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jalon Kilgore fell into the Round 5 slot.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Carnell Tate and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick99
Rnd3
Anto Saka
A reach on Anto Saka in pick No. 99; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick131
Rnd4
CJ Baxter
They paid sticker price for CJ Baxter in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick134
Rnd4
Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu at pick 134 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick156
Rnd5
Jalon Kilgore
Taking Jalon Kilgore in the 156th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick201
Rnd6
Raylen Wilson
Nothing to complain about; Raylen Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick212
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
They let Isaiah Nwokobia come to them and pounced at No. 212. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick235
Rnd7
DeAndre Moore Jr.
The board fumbled DeAndre Moore Jr. all the way to slot 235, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
