Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueA- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Giants for Slaughter: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Jake Slaughter, the No. 43 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 4, Pick 16. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq in the 37th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick55 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in slot 55 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick105 Rnd4 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick116 Rnd4 Jake Slaughter
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Slaughter reach Round 4, Pick 16 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick123 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at pick 123 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick143 Rnd5 Kage Casey
No edge and no loss on Kage Casey in pick No. 143; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184 Rnd6 Charles Jagusah
Charles Jagusah at the 184th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick190 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Earnest Greene III at No. 190 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick191 Rnd6 Bud Clark
Bud Clark at pick 191 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
