FutureB-
The Falcons fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Falcons did exactly that with Jowon Briggs in pick No. 225.
Taylor-Demerson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The veteran additions, Jonathan Taylor chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick43
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at No. 43 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick46
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette slipping to the 46th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick50
Rnd2
Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter at pick No. 50 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick53
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
A reasonable price with a little left over, Edgerrin Cooper in slot 53. The roster fit checks out.
Pick74
Rnd3
Blake Corum
Blake Corum at pick 74 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick79
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
Fair-plus on Ja'Lynn Polk, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110
Rnd4
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
You do not let a safety like Dadrion Taylor-Demerson reach pick 110 and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick120
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in Round 4, Pick 20 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick143
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the 143rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick187
Rnd6
Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at the 187th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick197
Rnd6
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They reached into another round for Zion Tupuola-Fetui, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick225
Rnd7
Jowon Briggs
Jowon Briggs in pick No. 225 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
