Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Ramsey: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kamari Ramsey got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at the 126th overall pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

If Gentry pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In the 31st pick they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jermod McCoy
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 63 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick95 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields in Round 3, Pick 31 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick126 Rnd4 Kamari Ramsey
Somehow Kamari Ramsey was still sitting there in slot 126, and they pounced on premier safety value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Joe Royer
They robbed the room for Joe Royer here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick169 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 169, where Aaron Anderson graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189 Rnd6 Trey Moore
Trey Moore at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at the 200th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick207 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Foster at pick 207, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210 Rnd6 J. Michael Sturdivant
They jumped the gun on J. Michael Sturdivant, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick220 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
Fair-plus on Nolan Rucci, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick228 Rnd7 PJ Williams
PJ Williams at slot 228 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick247 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry in No. 247 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
