Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jets let Milroe fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jalen Milroe got past him. The Jets do not have to explain a thing at the Round 3 slot.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The veteran additions, David Njoku chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In pick 23 they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at the 51st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick83
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Circle this one: Tate Ratledge at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick87
Rnd3
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in the 87th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Jalen Milroe in pick No. 93, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick115
Rnd4
Jalon Walker
They read the board right and Jalon Walker was the payoff at Round 4, Pick 19. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick147
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
The board fumbled Domani Jackson all the way to slot 147, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
