Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall

Mendoza is the Raiders' new face under center. Grade: B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Kayden McDonald, pick 174, roughly 149 picks past where he belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The cost of the Hemby reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick No. 1 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
They paid sticker price for Elijah Sarratt in No. 36, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67
Rnd3
David Bailey
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, David Bailey in pick 67, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick102
Rnd4
Carnell Tate
You do not let a wide receiver like Carnell Tate reach slot 102 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kenyon Sadiq
They barely believed it either: Kenyon Sadiq still on the board at the 117th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick134
Rnd4
Cashius Howell
They robbed the room for Cashius Howell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kayden McDonald
They will replay Kayden McDonald at Round 5, Pick 36 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick180
Rnd6
Jake Slaughter
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 180 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick183
Rnd6
Diego Pavia
Taking Diego Pavia in the 183rd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd7
Roman Hemby
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Roman Hemby well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
