FutureB
The Dolphins kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Dolphins walked right past. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Ramsey falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The back end got a real overhaul.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In slot 11 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43
Rnd2
Max Iheanachor
A straight-up fair deal on Max Iheanachor at the 43rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at pick No. 75 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick90
Rnd3
Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey in No. 90 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick111
Rnd4
Carson Beck
Carson Beck in Round 4, Pick 11 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick116
Rnd4
Deion Burks
Deion Burks at pick 116 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick149
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
A tidy little value on DeMonte Capehart in the 149th pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227
Rnd7
Keyshaun Elliott
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Keyshaun Elliott worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick229
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
The board had Thaddeus Dixon higher than pick 229, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
