Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Vikings worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

The real work happened on the phones. The Vikings fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Slaughter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The Vikings indulged a want in Ponds while a need in quarterback, edge rusher and other spots stayed open.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
They did well to land Jeremiyah Love in the Round 1 slot, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick48 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
A tidy bit of business in No. 48, where Jake Slaughter graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick74 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
They took Eli Stowers at par in slot 74, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick97 Rnd3 Julian Neal
Julian Neal at pick No. 97 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick117 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. D'Angelo Ponds in the 117th overall pick leaves quarterback, edge rusher and other spots for later.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jack Endries
They let Jack Endries come to them and pounced at the 120th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick156 Rnd5 Iapani Laloulu
No drama and no debate, Iapani Laloulu went about where he belonged in pick 156. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 29 with a little surplus value in Jacob Rodriguez. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick175 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Fair-plus on Davison Igbinosun, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Dane Key
Dane Key at the 206th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick227 Rnd7 DeAndre Moore Jr.
Nothing to complain about; DeAndre Moore Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jordan Castell
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Castell at slot 229, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick237 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 237 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
