Draft Grade — Lions

NeedA-

FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Lions a B+. The Lions spent real capital to be 146 picks early on Cody Jackson, and the board is going to hold them to it.
On value alone, Golday makes the weekend a net positive. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In pick No. 17 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick93
Rnd3
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds in Round 3, Pick 29 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jake Golday
A edge rusher of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick155
Rnd5
Patrick Payton
This one needs a full-page explanation: Patrick Payton in the 155th overall pick, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick186
Rnd6
Jaydn Ott
Jaydn Ott at No. 186 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick203
Rnd6
Daevin Hobbs
The board had cheaper options than Daevin Hobbs at the 203rd pick, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick212
Rnd6
Joey Aguilar
Joey Aguilar in the 212th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick222
Rnd7
Cody Jackson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cody Jackson well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255
Rnd7
PJ Williams
They barely believed it either: PJ Williams still on the board at Round 7, Pick 39. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
