Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
D+
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureA+
Quarterback settled, Daniels in the fold, and a D+ for the Cardinals. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cardinals, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Benson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Wilson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Daniels at the 7th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick13
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
In pick No. 13 they get a double-digit-sack hope. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at Round 1, Pick 27 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick35
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
Fair-plus on Adonai Mitchell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick47
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in slot 47 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Payton Wilson at pick 66. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71
Rnd3
Max Melton
By-the-book stuff, Max Melton at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick77
Rnd3
Trey Benson
They jumped the gun on Trey Benson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick No. 90 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Good price on Dominick Puni in the 92nd overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick104
Rnd4
Christian Mahogany
A clean, defensible pick in slot 104 with a little surplus value in Christian Mahogany. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112
Rnd4
Maason Smith
No edge and no loss on Maason Smith in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
