Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Fannin Jr. should have been long gone. The Bengals pounced, and earned a B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Harold Fannin Jr. got past him. The Bengals do not have to explain a thing at No. 117. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The Eason reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the 25th pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at pick 49 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick58 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Watts in slot 58. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick81 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
They will replay Kaleb Johnson at the 81st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick117 Rnd4 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. in Round 4, Pick 16 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick126 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra in No. 126 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jake Majors
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jake Majors reach pick No. 152 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick251 Rnd7 Bryson Eason
Value said wait; Bryson Eason in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick254 Rnd7 Corey Kiner
The board fumbled Corey Kiner all the way to pick 254, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
