Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Hancock: B.

Somebody in the Round 7 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Jordan Hancock, the No. 203 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Skattebo proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In the 12th overall pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at Round 2, Pick 12 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick76 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cam Skattebo this early at No. 76. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick149 Rnd5 Nick Nash
Nick Nash at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick171 Rnd5 Dillon Gabriel
They barely believed it either: Dillon Gabriel still on the board at the 171st pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in pick 174 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Dorian Strong
Steal is underselling it; Dorian Strong at pick No. 204 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Upton Stout
Upton Stout at slot 211 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick239 Rnd7 Shemar James
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 23, where Shemar James graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock in pick 247 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
