Overall B+
ValueB- NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: B+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 47 spots for Torricelli Simpkins III, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The King value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the 4th overall pick they get a problem off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
The board had cheaper options than Aireontae Ersery at slot 38, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick77 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylin Noel in pick 77. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jordan James
They paid a round early for Jordan James in No. 106, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick144 Rnd5 Kobe King
Nice patience on Kobe King, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 6. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick217 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
A big swing on Torricelli Simpkins III at the 217th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick220 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
Caleb Ransaw slipping to the Round 7 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick238 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
A premium they did not need to pay, Thomas Fidone II a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
