The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 41 spots for Xavier Thomas, and value like that does not grow back. There is no dressing it up: a F.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

The Beebe pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

In short, a weekend the front office will want to forget in a hurry.
