Draft Grade — Titans
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Titans left with their quarterback, and a B- to match.

You could see the war room lean forward. Smael Mondon Jr. at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Cam Ward gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They will need Royals to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In the 1st pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jalen Royals
They talked themselves into Jalen Royals at pick No. 35, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick101 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Taking Tate Ratledge in the Round 3 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick118 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
You do not let a linebacker like Barrett Carter reach the 118th overall pick and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick140 Rnd5 Tommi Hill
Tommi Hill in No. 140 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick167 Rnd5 Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at slot 167 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick176 Rnd6 Smael Mondon Jr.
Circle this one: Smael Mondon Jr. at pick 176 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick239 Rnd7 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne in pick No. 239 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
