Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
D-
ValueC+
NeedB-

FutureB-
The phones sank the Packers this weekend: D-. The phones were a trap the Packers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
They are betting Jones proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher and quarterback went begging.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick50
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
They took Kiran Amegadjie at par in pick No. 50, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick51
Rnd2
Jonathon Brooks
A reach for Jonathon Brooks in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick52
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
They jumped the gun on Payton Wilson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick57
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javon Bullard. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick84
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
A tidy little value on Mike Sainristil in the 84th pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick88
Rnd3
Tyler Davis
No drama and no debate, Tyler Davis went about where he belonged in slot 88. It fills a real need, too.
Pick91
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 91 on Tykee Smith with edge rusher and quarterback unsolved.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jarrian Jones
A big swing on Jarrian Jones at No. 97, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100
Rnd3
Malik Washington
They left a pile of value on the table to take Malik Washington this early at the 100th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126
Rnd4
Drake Nugent
They talked themselves into Drake Nugent at pick No. 126, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick168
Rnd5
McCallan Castles
Quietly one of the better values of the day, McCallan Castles at the Round 5 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick203
Rnd6
Rasheen Ali
By-the-book stuff, Rasheen Ali at Round 6, Pick 28 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick216
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and JD Bertrand at the 216th overall pick is the proof. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
