Nobody had Taulia Tagovailoa this high, and it is not close. The Broncos reached 71 spots to get him at the 149th pick. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. So much rides on Bo Nix that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
