Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB FutureC+
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Aeneas Peebles in Round 3, Pick 11, a good 66 spots before the room expected him. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

Landing Moore that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In pick No. 11 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in the 57th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick74 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
A wild overpay on Cam Skattebo in Round 3, Pick 10, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75 Rnd3 Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles in the 75th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in slot 100 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick113 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138 Rnd4 Jalen McLeod
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen McLeod well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
A slide stopped in pick 147, with Mello Dotson worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick160 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Steal is underselling it; Malachi Moore at No. 160 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick227 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan at pick No. 227 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick249 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick252 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
They reached into another round for Jalen Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
