sarhan DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

Draft Grade — 49ers

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the 49ers: B-. The 49ers bet big and early on Jackson Slater, 68 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Harvey falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In No. 11 they get a blindside protector, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at Round 2, Pick 11 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jackson Slater
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jackson Slater this early at slot 75. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jaylin Noel
Good price on Jaylin Noel in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick112
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
A conviction pick on O'Donnell Fortune at the 112th pick that the board grades a round light. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick138
Rnd4
Nazir Stackhouse
A real head-scratcher, Nazir Stackhouse in pick 138 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick139
Rnd4
Jake Briningstool
Jake Briningstool at pick 139 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
A market-rate specialist, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andres Borregales. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick189
Rnd6
RJ Harvey
RJ Harvey in pick No. 189 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick228
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
By-the-book stuff, Teddye Buchanan at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick232
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
Value said wait; Shilo Sanders in slot 232 says they were not listening. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jaylin Smith
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylin Smith in the 255th pick. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
