Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Commanders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-.

The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 67 on Joe Milton III a full 142 spots early. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Vidal at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In slot 2 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Guyton in the 36th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick50 Rnd2 Ja'Tavion Sanders
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ja'Tavion Sanders at Round 2, Pick 18. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick53 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
The board had Payton Wilson higher than No. 53, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick67 Rnd3 Joe Milton III
A wild overpay on Joe Milton III in pick No. 67, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick 100 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
They will replay Jarrian Jones at the 139th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick161 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey slipping to pick 161 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick222 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at the 222nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
