The Bears did not so much draft Theo Johnson as overpay for him, 61 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B.

J.J. McCarthy gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
