Grand theft in pick 247: the Steelers steal Stout and grade out a B. The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Upton Stout, the No. 189 name on the board, sitting there at pick 247 like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Hamilton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In pick 21 they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick52
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kaleb Johnson at the 52nd pick is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick89
Rnd3
Tre Harris
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at the 89th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Pick127
Rnd4
Darius Alexander
No edge and no loss on Darius Alexander in pick No. 127; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick163
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
They robbed the room for Billy Bowman Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick225
Rnd7
Cobee Bryant
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Cobee Bryant in slot 225, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick231
Rnd7
Ty Hamilton
They jumped the gun on Ty Hamilton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick243
Rnd7
Woody Marks
The board fumbled Woody Marks all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick247
Rnd7
Upton Stout
Somehow Upton Stout was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 29, and they pounced on premier safety value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
