Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bears: B-. For all the boxes ticked, the Bears skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They will need Heidenreich to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Dillon Thieneman
In pick No. 25 they get a centerfielder for the defense. Need was not the driver here.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in No. 57 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick60
Rnd2
Christen Miller
A straight-up fair deal on Christen Miller at the 60th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick89
Rnd3
Connor Lew
They did well to land Connor Lew in the 89th pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick129
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
They liked DeMonte Capehart enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 29. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick239
Rnd7
TJ Hall
Fair-plus on TJ Hall, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick241
Rnd7
Eli Heidenreich
Eli Heidenreich at slot 241 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
