Golday should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a C-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jake Golday, the No. 58 name on the board, stolen at pick 92.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The Igbinosun pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at running back and linebacker.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caleb Banks at the 58th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Circle this one: Jake Slaughter at pick 82 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Jake Golday in slot 92 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalon Kilgore in No. 127. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick133 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
A reasonable price with a little left over, J.C. Davis in the 133rd pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 138 leaves running back and linebacker for later.
Pick161 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Beau Stephens at the Round 5 slot is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at slot 171 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick218 Rnd7 Oscar Delp
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oscar Delp in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jalen Huskey
Nice patience on Jalen Huskey, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 18. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick242 Rnd7 Miller Moss
Miller Moss slid further than he should have, and the 242nd pick is lovely value for the quarterback. It fills a real need, too.
