Draft Grade — 49ers

FutureB-
The 49ers let Thieneman fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the 49ers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
They banked enough surplus on Thieneman to cover a lot of smaller sins. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the 27th pick they get a seam-stretching tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick59
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at No. 59 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
They took Jacob Rodriguez at par in pick 92, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick127
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
They did well to land Keylan Rutledge in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick133
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at the 133rd overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in slot 138 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick171
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
They let Ted Hurst come to them and pounced at slot 171. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
