The Bears did not so much draft Tim Smith as overpay for him, 50 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Hampton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
