Hampton should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Omarion Hampton tumbling to the Bears in the 55th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The Scourton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
