Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B

Emmanwori should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Nick Emmanwori tumbling to the 49ers in Round 2, Pick 11 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They are betting Simpkins III proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In No. 11 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick75 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins is a better player than the 75th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in pick 100 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jaylin Lane
They went early on Jaylin Lane in the 113th overall pick, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick138 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
They let Kyle McCord come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 36. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147 Rnd5 Mitchell Evans
No drama and no debate, Mitchell Evans went about where he belonged in pick No. 147. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick160 Rnd5 Andres Borregales
Andres Borregales at slot 160 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick227 Rnd7 Kain Medrano
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kain Medrano in the Round 7 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick249 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
They talked themselves into Torricelli Simpkins III at the 249th pick, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick252 Rnd7 John Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for John Williams. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
