Good, not great, for the 49ers: B-.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the 49ers shredded theirs for J. Michael Sturdivant. He came off 72 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

However the rest shakes out, Slaughter at that price is a win they earned. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 25th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
They let Jake Slaughter come to them and pounced at the 57th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick89 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. at No. 89 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick125 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
A quiet steal in slot 125: Tacario Davis for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick133 Rnd4 Iapani Laloulu
They liked Iapani Laloulu enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 33. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
A reach on Max Iheanachor in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172 Rnd5 J. Michael Sturdivant
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for J. Michael Sturdivant. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
