Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
Nix is the Seahawks' new face under center. Grade: D-.

The tape said wait; the Seahawks did not. Evan Williams went at the 249th pick, a good 33 picks before the board was ready. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

They have staked the next five years on Bo Nix, which is the only story that really matters here. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

Landing Driskell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Troy Franklin
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick28 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In No. 28 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick78 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at Round 3, Pick 14 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
They went early on Michael Hall Jr. in the 81st overall pick, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99 Rnd3 Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at the 99th pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
They let Jaden Hicks come to them and pounced at pick No. 118. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick123 Rnd4 Isaiah Adams
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Adams went about where he belonged in pick No. 123. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick154 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
Nice patience on Dallin Holker, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 18. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick162 Rnd5 Edefuan Ulofoshio
A clean, defensible pick in the 162nd pick with a little surplus value in Edefuan Ulofoshio. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick164 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick194 Rnd6 Michael Wiley
Michael Wiley at pick 194 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick197 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
They talked themselves into Tanor Bortolini at No. 197, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236 Rnd7 Ethan Driskell
Ethan Driskell in slot 236 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick239 Rnd7 Zion Logue
They paid up for Zion Logue at the 239th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick249 Rnd7 Evan Williams
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Evan Williams well ahead of where he belonged. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
