Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB+ FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B.

The Seahawks put a flag in the ground for Donovan Smith, 31 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Getting White III where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In slot 30 they get a downhill hitter at safety, outstanding value to boot.
Pick39 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Colston Loveland at the 39th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
The board had Jihaad Campbell higher than the 50th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick71 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in pick No. 71 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick85 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Isaiah Bond for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick101 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in No. 101 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick122 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
Fair-plus on Denzel Burke, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jackson Slater. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick137 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick 137 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick152 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
No edge and no loss on Jonah Monheim in pick No. 172; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
They took Ollie Gordon II at par in the 175th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
Good price on JJ Pegues in Round 6, Pick 14, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick195 Rnd6 Clay Webb
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Clay Webb. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Antwane Wells Jr. in No. 204. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at slot 211 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jermari Harris
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 18 with a little surplus value in Jermari Harris. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick239 Rnd7 Donovan Smith
Value said wait; Donovan Smith in pick 239 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick244 Rnd7 Ricky White III
Ricky White III in the 244th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick251 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Isaac TeSlaa in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick257 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
This one needs a full-page explanation: Shilo Sanders in the 257th pick, miles early. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
