The move everyone will second-guess came early. The 49ers reached some 38 spots for Kimani Vidal, and value like that does not grow back.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
