FutureA
More right than wrong for the Giants, and a B+ to prove it. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Giants took Ben Sinnott a full 24 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Adding Najee Harris by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 20th pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Morgan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins in pick 47 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick51
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in No. 51 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaylen Wright a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
Pick108
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 108th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121
Rnd4
Michael Pratt
The board had cheaper options than Michael Pratt at the 121st overall pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick140
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mason McCormick well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
They liked Jaylan Ford enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 185. It adds depth where they could use a little.
