Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall C-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
Grand theft in slot 76: the Broncos steal Sweat and grade out a C-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Broncos watched T'Vondre Sweat slide 28 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a C- and check back in two years.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a wrecking ball inside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick46 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
J.J. McCarthy in the 46th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at the 49th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76 Rnd3 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in No. 76 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at pick No. 83 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick120 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
A slide stopped in pick 120, with Cole Bishop worth more than the price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick144 Rnd5 Isaiah Adams
The board had Isaiah Adams higher than the Round 5 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Cedric Gray in slot 146, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
They paid sticker price for Jared Wiley in Round 6, Pick 20, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick206 Rnd6 Eric Watts
No edge and no loss on Eric Watts in No. 206; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick234 Rnd7 Javontae Jean-Baptiste
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the 234th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
