FutureA+
The Commanders found their guy under center in Nix: C. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. A weekend of give and take that grades a C.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Sainristil.
With interior defensive lineman unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
They will need Laube to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
So much rides on Bo Nix that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In the 22nd overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Fair-plus on Graham Barton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick50
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
A tidy little value on Kris Jenkins in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick54
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
A quiet steal in slot 54: Xavier Worthy for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 3 with a little surplus value in Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick100
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in No. 100 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick123
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Cedric Gray in the 123rd pick leaves interior defensive lineman for later.
Pick127
Rnd4
Dylan Laube
Dylan Laube in pick 127 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick141
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 141st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick181
Rnd6
Roger Rosengarten
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Roger Rosengarten at slot 181. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at No. 223 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
