The 49ers bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The 49ers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 249th overall pick on Tyler Loop a full 72 spots early. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
