Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Bears.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Bears never addressed running back, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They will need Winston Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Deone Walker
A straight-up fair deal on Deone Walker at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick35 Rnd2 Nic Scourton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nic Scourton in pick No. 35. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Ajani Cornelius
They did well to land Ajani Cornelius in slot 50, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick68 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick 68 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick82 Rnd3 Aireontae Ersery
A quiet steal in No. 82: Aireontae Ersery for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
They jumped the gun on Kevin Winston Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick156 Rnd5 Tez Johnson
They went early on Tez Johnson in the 156th pick, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Pick176 Rnd6 Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at the 176th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
