Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Chiefs.

The Fentrell Cypress II pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 80 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The Watts value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Good price on Derrick Harmon in the 36th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick60 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts is a better player than pick 60 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick66 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 66 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Devin Neal
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Devin Neal at the 94th pick is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick105 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Value with a capital V on Darius Alexander in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick114 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
A straight-up fair deal on Terrance Ferguson at Round 4, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jah Joyner
They paid a round early for Jah Joyner in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick257 Rnd7 Fentrell Cypress II
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Fentrell Cypress II. A minor need, but a need all the same.
