Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall F
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureD
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a F for the Cowboys.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cowboys shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.

Drake Maye is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They banked enough surplus on Paul to cover a lot of smaller sins.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In pick No. 4 they get a red-zone target to build around. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey at pick 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick71 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Patrick Paul in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick81 Rnd3 Junior Colson
Nothing to complain about; Junior Colson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
A tidy little value on Sedrick Van Pran in the 94th overall pick, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick119 Rnd4 Max Melton
Max Melton slipping to No. 119 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick131 Rnd4 Malik Washington
Malik Washington is a better player than the 131st pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at pick No. 146 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick174 Rnd5 Grayson Murphy
Fair-plus on Grayson Murphy, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick212 Rnd6 Miyan Williams
A tidy bit of business in No. 212, where Miyan Williams graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick245 Rnd7 Zion Logue
They took Zion Logue at par in the 245th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick252 Rnd7 Jeremy James
Jeremy James in the 252nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
