Of all the ways to open, the Bears chose the head-scratcher, spending pick 122 on James Williams with running back, cornerback and other spots still wide open.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Rogers to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
