Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA FutureD-
The Raiders answered their biggest question with Penix Jr.. Grade: B-.

The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Michael Penix Jr., and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Carson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Michael Penix Jr.
In slot 9 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
They took Xavier Legette at par in No. 44, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
A reach on Michael Hall Jr. in pick 75; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick77 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
Value with a capital V on Caelen Carson in the 77th pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick112 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 12 with a little surplus value in Braelon Allen. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick150 Rnd5 LaDarius Henderson
They jumped the gun on LaDarius Henderson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick190 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick234 Rnd7 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at pick No. 234 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
