Draft Grade — Giants
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Giants bet the future on Daniels. The board says D-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Giants took Joe Milton III a full 50 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Rakestraw Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value.
Pick33 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Value said wait; Xavier Legette in slot 33 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick65 Rnd3 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 65th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick107 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
A reach for Brenden Rice in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick124 Rnd4 Isaiah Davis
A real head-scratcher, Isaiah Davis in No. 124 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick166 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Joe Milton III. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick178 Rnd6 Sataoa Laumea
Nice patience on Sataoa Laumea, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick183 Rnd6 Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas at Round 6, Pick 8 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211 Rnd6 Layden Robinson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Layden Robinson in No. 211. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones at the 251st pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
