The Bears let Neal fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bears were there to profit. Devin Neal, the No. 82 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 147th overall pick.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. McLaughlin has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Kelvin Banks Jr.
Kelvin Banks Jr. in pick 4 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick41
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
The board fumbled Kenneth Grant all the way to No. 41, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick147
Rnd5
Devin Neal
Somehow Devin Neal was still sitting there in pick No. 147, and they pounced on premier running back value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193
Rnd6
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin in the 193rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233
Rnd7
Hunter Wohler
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Hunter Wohler in Round 7, Pick 17. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jonah Monheim
Steal is underselling it; Jonah Monheim at slot 240 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
